Happy New Year, Brevard pet lovers! I hope that with the hustle and bustle of the season, you were able to set some time aside to spend with your furry family members, too. We all know how important the relationships with have with our pets are and how much we love to spoil our pets. According to the American Pet Products Association’s estimates, Americans spent $52.87 billion on food and supplies, grooming and veterinarian care in 2012. It’s obvious, we love our pets; we’re ready for more pet-friendly events in Brevard.
One very pet-friendly event, the Animal Lovers Expo, starts the year off right on Saturday, Jan. 19 in Historic Downtown Titusville on North US1 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features animals available for adoption and rescue groups with horses, snakes, cats and dogs and everything in between from 1 p.m. 5 p.m.! The fun doesn’t stop there, with contests and prizes and vendors with great pet products too. Some of the activities planned include:
- Children’s Pet Play Area
- Animal Fashion Show
- Animal Talent Show
- Best Canardlies – You “can hardly” tell what the mix breed is!
- Pet and Owner Look-a-Like contest
- Groomers Challenge
- Pet Food Donation Weigh-In
There are small entry fees for the contests, but all proceeds will benefit local animal rescue groups.
Although this Brevard County Animal Expo portion ends at 5 p.m., there will be food trucks from all over the state ready to feed your hungry family throughout the event until 8 p.m. along with live entertainment, beer and wine tents, and more! There is no cost for admission to the event and parking is also free. For more information or to register for one of the contests, visit http://www.floridaloves2eat.com/Animal-Lovers.html.
I will be there, along with some adoptable dogs from the SPCA of North Brevard, so be sure to stop by our tent to say “Hi!”
