It’s been beautiful outside the past couple of days here in Brevard but it’s not looking so good for this weekend, so you may want to plan some indoor activities, like catching “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at the Titusville Playhouse or “Fiddler on the Roof” at Melbourne’s Henegar Center before it’s too late.
Of course, it’s also March in Florida, and you can never trust the weather report. Our motto is, have fun despite the chance of rain. If your event gets rained out, there’s likely a good restaurant nearby. Anyway, here’s a taste (there’s way to0 much to cover here, so check our calendar for more) of what’s happening this weekend in Brevard County:
Friday, March 9, 2012
Friday Fest Family Street Party
Historic Downtown Melbourne will host a Friday Fest Family Street Party beginning at 6 p.m. Activities include live entertainment for adults and kids alike, food, craft and business vendors, a showcase of new and classic cars, and cool stuff — like climbing walls — for kiddos. Admission and parking are free but some of the activities cost a little.
Saturday, March 10, 2012
Always a community favorite, Indiafest brings a taste–as well as sights, sounds and feelings–of India to the Space Coast. This year’s theme is “Festivals of India” and the event will feature fashion shows, live music and dance, henna art, cultural exhibits and great, great, great food!
City of Cape Canaveral Spring Festival
The City of Cape Canaveral is hosting its popular Spring Festival on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at Manatee Park. A local favorite, this event features yummy food, live music, a car cruise and the chance to win fun prizes. The Spring Festival is fun for the whole family. Get the flier here.
Sunday, March 11, 2012
(These events are actually happening all weekend long, but why not make them your Sunday fun-day activities?)
Indialantic 60th Anniversary Festivities
The Town of Indialantic will celebrate its 60th birthday beginning this Friday at Nance Park with a car show and movies. The party continues on Saturday with a fire department breakfast and open house, art show, athletic jam and historical presentation at Douglas Park, and culminates on Sunday with music, games and refreshments at Orlando Park. Open to the public! Get the schedule here.
TICO Warbird AirShow
The Valiant Air Command will hold the 35th annual TICO Warbird AirShow 3-day March 9-11, 2012. The event is dedicated to the memory of the “The Doolittle Raiders,” and the 70th anniversary of their legendary mission over Tokyo. There will be over 70 vintage aircraft on display and flying throughout the show.
If you attend any of these events, make sure to comment with your experiences! Have a great weekend, everyone!
