Park Profile: Inspiration Park

There are no less than 108 parks in Brevard County, all of them free and fun for the whole family. Every so often, Brevard Happening profiles one of these community gems.

This week: Inspiration Park, 751 Consumer St. SE Palm Bay.

Inspiration Park is probably one of Brevard County’s most beloved parks. And not just because it’s a great place to enjoy some outdoor fun-in-the-sun, but because of what it represents. As one of only 12 parks in Florida that is 100% accessible for children with special needs, it symbolizes Brevard’s commitment to being a place where everyone, regardless of age or ability, can have a good time.

The play structure at Palm Bay’s Inspiration Park is huge, but low-to-the-ground and super safe, with lots of wide ramps, bridges and tunnels. The slides aren’t very steep and much of the area is covered.

Most of Inspiration Park’s grounds are lined with a padded rubber surface that make even the most worrisome of helicopter moms (also dads and other caretakers) feel safe about letting their kids run free. The remainder of the area is soft mulch and of course, grass.

Inspiration Park also features a nice variety of swings, ranging from those butt-hugging rubber-and-chain ones you find everywhere to this pair of adaptive swings (above) designed for kids with movement limitations.

With all the choices for which way to go and things to do, you might even say that this Brevard park is a-maze-ing. It also offers a variety of built-in visual and textural elements that make it fun for all children.

Other amenities of Inspiration Park include restrooms, a pavilion, public grill and the ultimate bonus: free Wi-Fi. Brevard Happening thinks you and your little ones are going to love Inspiration Park.
