This fall, we asked readers to nominate Brevard County’s biggest Movers & Shakers. With dozens of amazing stories, our accomplished judges had their work cut out for them when it came to narrowing down the Top 10 Movers & Shakers of 2014. Now, with the official results in, we’re going to be taking a closer look at each winner and share their incredible stories in the coming weeks.
First up, meet the inspirational Dawn Faust from Port St. John. Dawn turned a series of devastating life challenges, including a battle against breast cancer and a difficult divorce, into a recipe to “cure her life” and ultimately help others through The Space Coast Cancer Foundation.

Brevard Happening: What motivates you every morning?
I am motivated by this beautiful life and the opportunity to make a difference for someone every day.
Brevard Happening: What would you say is your idea of a perfect day?
One spent with my husband, children or family (Grandmother, sister, brothers, Mom or Dad) just visiting, laughing and enjoying one another.
Brevard Happening: Who inspires you?
I am inspired by my husband. He loves me unconditionally and continually lifts me up so that it is easy to soar. He is the wind beneath my wings.
Brevard Happening: How did you decide to go into your business/profession?
I got “called”. After being diagnosed with cancer and going through a very tough time, I wanted to make a difference every day in the lives of cancer patients and make their experience better.
Brevard Happening: Which achievement are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my children. They are not perfect but I am a typical Mom who loves her kids to the moon and back. Also my fundraising for The Space Coast Cancer Foundation and the Daffodil Gala.
Brevard Happening: What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome?
My cancer diagnosis in 2009 and all the loss that followed it.
Brevard Happening: What is the biggest accomplishment that you’d like to achieve over the next 5 years?
I would like to finish writing my book.
Brevard Happening: How do you think your friends & coworkers would describe you?
Happy, positive and an encourager.
Brevard Happening: Where’s your favorite place to go in Brevard County?
I love so many things in Brevard. The beach, Cocoa Village, The Port. I could go on and on……
Brevard Happening: If you could go back in time and talk to yourself ten years ago, what advice would you give?
To love myself more, to know that I am worthy of all good things and not to settle for anything less.
