Ever witness a holiday parade proposal before? Neither had we, so we were caught slightly off guard when one unfolded before our eyes during downtown Melbourne’s Independence Day Parade (2012). It all began with a nervous-looking young man in a Camaro, holding a hand-designed sign.
You could tell this guy’s heart was pounding, but it wasn’t as if he was nervous about popping the question. Rather, he seemed worried about not being able to find his girlfriend in the crowd.
Maybe she was in one of the shops getting an ice water? Maybe nature called? Maybe she hadn’t come after all? Alright, so there’s no way we could tell if these were the questions running through his head… but they were certainly running through ours. Where is that girlfriend of his?
His face turned from worry to confidence when he spotted her. At this point, she was surrounded by applauding friends, family and onlookers, and smiling from ear to ear.
At this point, it was pretty clear she’d said yes. So much for independence day! (Sorry, that one was too easy.)
In all seriousness, it was also clear that none of the fireworks displays happening later that night would top those we all had the honor of witnessing during the Melbourne Independence Day Parade 2012. Congratulations to the happy couple and thanks for making everyone’s day a little more
Please join Brevard Happening in wishing these two the best of luck in their future.
