ALFRED HITCHCOCK’S THE 39 STEPS Adapted by Patrick Barlow From the novel by John Buchan From the movie of Alfred Hitchcock And an original concept by Nobby Dimon and Simon Corble
Summary: Two time Tony award winner, “Theater at it’s Finest” Ben Brantley
This blissfully funny show follows the incredible adventures of our handsome hero Richard Hannay, complete with stiff-upper-lip, British gung-ho and pencil moustache as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women. Literally nothing has been cut from this HILARIOUS AND SPECTACULAR version of Britain’s most spell-binding thriller – legendary scenes include THE CHASE ON THE FLYING SCOTSMAN, THE ESCAPE ON THE FORTH BRIDGE, THE FIRST THEATRICAL BI–PLANE CRASH EVER STAGED, THE RATHER PROVOCATIVE ‘BEDROOM’ SEQUENCE and the death-defying (or nearly!) FINALE AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM! This wonderfully inventive and gripping comedy thriller features four fearless actors, playing 139 roles in 100 minutes of fast-paced fun and thrilling action.
The show is directed by Peg Girard with a cast of four including Mark Blackledge as Richard Hannay, Christina LaFortune as Annabella, Margaret and Pamela, Dana Blanchard as Clown 1 and Pete Jacobsen as Clown 2. The Set & Light Design as well as Technical Direction is by Alan Selby, Sound Design by Wendy Reader, costume Design by Alice Henning.
