The holidays are upon us here in Brevard County and wouldn’t you know it, Saturday Dec. 8 is a day of parades! Sure, they may be taking place in two different towns, but they’re also happening at two different times, which means that you can attend both if the holiday spirit moves you! And why not? Surely your morning would be better with a little cheer from Cocoa and Rockledge and your evening could use a touch of Melbourne merriness when the sun goes down.
Here are the details on what Brevard Happening has dubbed “A Day of Parades.”
Cocoa-Rockledge Holiday Parade
This parade, put together by the fine folks at Brevard County Parks and Recreation, is your chance to “Celebrate the Season” with many of the local businesses, schools, organizations and community groups that call Rockledge and Cocoa home. The parade begins at Cocoa Central Reference Library at 10 a.m. and follows Forrest Avenue, eventually coming to an end at Rockledge High School around 11:30 a.m. Mindy from “Mike and Mindy in the Morning” on Lite Rock 99.3 hosts.
This festive and bright evening event begins at 6 p.m. at the corner of Hibiscus Blvd. and Babcock Street, runs south to New Haven Ave. and continues east along Strawbridge Ave. It ends about an hour later at the intersection of Strawbridge and Waverly. If thousands of brilliant little lights aren’t enough to get you in the Christmas spirit, then perhaps you need to do some shopping. Good thing this parade ends in Downtown Melbourne, where you can do some “Candlelight Shopping.”
